Features

1. Dark Mode File Explorer

The first new feature is Dark Mode in File Explorer. So if in previous versions of Windows 10, although there is a Dark Mode, but File Explorer does not have Dark Mode. But now if you activate Dark Mode, then the File Explorer will appear dark. In other words, the Dark Mode experience of Windows 10 becomes more complete in the October 2018 Update.

2. Clipboard History

The second new feature, Windows 10 October 2018 Update now has Clipboard History that can be synchronized between PCs. So what you copy on one PC, you can paste it directly on another PC. To access the Clipboard history, you just have to press the Windows + V key combination, then the Clipboard list will pop up that you copied earlier, and just choose which one you want to paste.

This feature is disabled by default, so first enable Clipboard History via Settings. You can also activate the Sync accross devices option, so that what you copy on one PC can be pasted on your other PC.

In the future Microsoft will embed this feature in Swiftkey, so what you copy from your mobile, tablet or PC, all can be combined and integrated into one.

3. Snip & Sketch

The third new feature, Windows 10 now comes with Snip & Sketch. So if you press Windows + Shift + S, you can just take a screenshot, and just click on the floating window to edit the mark up. Here you can doodle, sign, crop, and even draw with the help of a ruler and bow. This feature is most optimal if your PC touch screen, but if not you can still use it with a mouse or trackpad.

4. Texting from PC / Laptop

The fourth new feature is the Your Phone application. With this application you should be able to read and send SMS directly from a PC. Then continue browsing from mobile to PC, and even see the 25 most recent photos that you take on your mobile, to be accessed and used directly from the PC.

But for now, on Windows 10 October 2018 my RTM Update, Your Phone feature can't be used yet. I have linked my cellphone to my PC, but I haven't detected it yet.

5. Swiftkey

The fifth new feature, if you use a Windows tablet - or Windows 10 Tablet Mode, the default Windows 10 October 2018 update touch keyboard is SwiftKey. So this SwiftKey has been bought by Microsoft since 2016, and now it's also embedded into Windows 10. With this Swiftkey you can type with swipe typing on Windows, but for Text Suggestion and autocorrect, it doesn't support Indonesia. So it's still limited to English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

6. Search Preview

The sixth new feature, now the look of Windows Search is overhauled by adding previews. So if you search for certain keywords, then Bing preview will appear. Likewise if you look for an installed application, several menus will be displayed. And if you look for an application that isn't installed yet - the App App menu will appear to install it through the Store.

7. Edge Browser

The seventh new feature, there are a myriad of changes in the Edge browser. First if you notice some new touches in the Edge browser design, such as the shadow that makes the depth effect look more pronounced, then if you open the settings menu, the settings are now grouped in categories, making it really easy to memuin the settings you are looking for, and in the settings - now you can set media autoplay. If you select Allow, it means that the autoplay media is still running, if you choose a limit, it means that only the muted media autoplay will still run, and if you select block, it means that no media autoplay will be run.

8. Display

The eighth feature, from the side view, you can find a few minor changes such as the border window now no longer in the form of color, but shadow, to give a depth effect, in accordance with the concept in Fluent Design. Popup menus and context menus also have shadows, but unfortunately this shadow design is still not aligned between the application window and the context menu, so if in the application window you will find soft shadows like this, in the context of hard shadow menus like this.

Touch of acrylic design you can also find in some other corner of Windows 10 such as Timeline and other Windows default applications. Please explore and you will find display updates here and there.

9. Notepad Update

Ninth feature, finally overhauled Notepad with lots of new features. First Notepad now supports Line Breaks from Linux and Mac, so text files from Linux and Mac that used to be chaotic when opened in Notepad because they didn't detect Line Breaks, now look neat as they should.
